About Los Alpes

Our Head of coffee

Will says:

“Delicate cantaloupe melon and honey notes form the key flavours in this cup, gently followed by a long, lingering toffee aftertaste developed through the roast. The sweetness, again, reminds me of ripe fruit and honey, pairing perfectly with the mild grape-like acidity and silky mouthfeel.”

About the farm

Arcadio was born on Finca Los Alpes in 1948 and comes from a generation of Colombians who grew up on coffee farms, learning about the land their family owned and how the trees behaved each year as weather patterns changed. Coffee prices across that time have been volatile but never high and Arcadio has continued producing coffee. He has farmed through 5 decades of civil war, a period in which millions of people were displaced from their farms and homes and has continued steadfast to produce coffee on his land. Now in his 70’s Arcadio continues to apply the knowledge shared with him by his family, the understanding of the farm he has developed over time and that new knowledge developed by Cenicafe (the colombian coffee research institute) and shared by the FNC’s extension service, all of this has resulted in a competition winning coffee.
