The majority of decaf is cheap, stale beans decaffeinated to sell off. Pact Coffee treats their decaf customers with respect. Their decaf pod release sets a new standard for decaf coffee.

The coffee industry’s worst-kept secret

Here’s the truth about decaf that most people don’t know…

Most roasters do not give you the same freshness as they do with their caffeinated beans. They think they can get away with giving stale coffee a false lease of life through the decaffeination process. Then they sell it off to you as if you won’t notice. It’s a last-ditch effort that leaves you cheated with a bland brew.

There are many reasons why you may want or need to drink decaf - this needs to be addressed. It’s not fair that you’re treated with less respect.

The problem with most decaf

You’ve probably heard someone at some point say “death before decaf”. There’s no way around it - it has a bad rap. A lot of people don’t drink it because they think it tastes bad.

But that’s just not true. The problem is that many manufacturers still use harsh industrial solvents - such as methylene chloride - to remove the caffeine. More commonly, you’ll find it in paint stripper. Yep, you read that right.

It’s much better for the flavour of the coffee - and for you! - to check the method used. The CO2 method is a natural, safe way to preserve the integrity of the coffee beans and give you a great cup.

There’s a better way

Pact Coffee has a fresh approach. They think you’ve been fobbed off with bad beans for too long.

They take their decaf as seriously as they do the rest of their menu. It’s speciality (graded the best of the best), sourced from some of the world’s most talented and passionate farmers, and - most importantly - it’s fresh and flavoursome.

New Bourbon Cream Decaf Pods

With our new Bourbon Cream Decaf Pods now available, there are more options than ever for decaf drinkers yearning for quality.

They’re Nespresso® compatible and packed to the brim with a speciality-grade chocolatey espresso blend. And a blind-tasting panel said they’re more likely to buy Pact pods over the market leaders.

No espresso machine? No problem. They always have at least two decaf filter coffees on their menu, which you can buy wholebean or ground to order. The beans are roasted and ground just days before your new favourite coffee lands on your doormat.

This is not your regular decaf - this is premium, ethically sourced speciality coffee without the caffeine.

Tomorrow morning just got better.

Let’s Change The Industry

As a B Corp-certified company, we’re kept under close scrutiny to make sure we continue to use business as a force for good.

We’re taking an ethical approach to coffee by going straight to the farmer, working with them to produce speciality (the very best) coffee and giving them a price that they can actually live on. Read more about our approach to ethical coffee.

But back to our main topic, climate change, and what we’re doing to play our small part to combat it.

Plus, our roastery is now carbon-neutral, we use 100% green energy, and we roast coffee within two to three days of deliveries to maximise roasting capacity and minimise energy use.
