Key takeaways

  • Private label coffee lets a business put its own branding on the coffee it buys in, without setting up a supply chain from scratch.
  • At Pact, that means our speciality coffee in Pact packaging, with your custom label and artwork applied – a co-branded pack.
  • It’s a fit for offices, hospitality venues, retailers, and event teams who want outstanding coffee that carries their name.
  • Your Pact account manager handles the setup, from artwork sign-off through to delivery.

What is private label coffee?

Private label coffee is coffee that a business sells or serves under its own brand, rather than the roaster’s.

Across most industries, ‘private label’ describes a product made by one company and sold under a retailer’s name – supermarket own-brand ranges are the classic example. The buyer’s branding goes on the pack, and the maker usually stays in the background.

With private label coffee, you get a custom coffee with your name on it, without setting up your own sourcing and roasting operation or the cost that comes with it.

In the UK, private label coffee usually reaches buyers through a roaster or supplier rather than any packing line of their own.

Is private label coffee the same as white label coffee?

Not quite, and the two are easy to mix up. ‘White label’ usually means a product that a maker sells on to several buyers, each of whom rebrands it as their own.

‘Private label’ tends to mean a product made specifically for one retailer to sell under its brand. In both cases, the original maker’s identity disappears from the pack.

Our offer is neither of those in the strict sense. When you brand coffee with Pact, you get Pact’s speciality coffee in Pact packaging, with your own label and artwork added on top.

It’s co-branding – your name sits alongside ours, not instead of it. We use ‘white label’ at Pact as a shorthand, but we think it’s more accurate to say you’re putting your brand on Pact coffee.

How does white label coffee work at Pact?

It starts with the coffee, not the label. You choose from Pact’s range – the earth’s best beans from the world’s best growers – and set up a business account.

From there, your account manager works with you on the label itself, taking your logo and artwork and turning them into a design that goes on each pack. The result is a custom coffee that looks like yours and tastes like ours.

Once the design’s signed off, we apply your label to Pact packaging and organise delivery on the schedule that suits you.

As usual, we roast the day before dispatch – so you get the coffee at its freshest.

Who is white label coffee for?

It’s built for UK businesses that buy coffee and want it to carry their name.

That covers offices after a better brew in the kitchen and a bit of brand presence on the counter, hospitality venues serving the very best, retailers stocking branded coffee beans on their shelves, and event teams looking for something memorable to hand out.

It’s outstanding speciality coffee with your branding on it, without the cost and complexity of building a coffee supply chain of your own.

How do you set up white label coffee for your business?

If you already buy from us, your account manager is the person to speak to – they’ll walk you through the range and the label options, and confirm any minimums that apply.

If you’re new to Pact for business, you can get in touch through our business hub. We’ll set up an account and take it from there.
