Our Head of coffee
Deliciously sweet white chocolate and toffee flavours are abundant in this cup with or without the addition of milk. There is a mild lemon acidity, rich creamy mouthfeel and lingering vanilla aftertaste.
You might recognise Maria Del Rosario from the Buenos Aires coffee that makes up half of our Fruit & Nut Espresso, which she grows with her husband José Ramone. On Will’s last annual trip out to the farm, he discovered that Maria has her own farm - Bella Vista. He knew he just had to try out her own coffee in the next blind cupping he took part in.
And, unsurprisingly, he was very pleased he did - deliciously sweet white chocolate and toffee flavours are met by a mild lemon acidity, rich creamy mouthfeel and lingering vanilla aftertaste. Very different to the Buenos Aires we know and love - which may be perplexing, considering they both use similar varieties and the same processing and drying techniques. These differences came down to a difference in terroir.
It is a source of family income. It is generating employment and welfare for the community, and is a dynamic trade in this region. This drink becomes a bond of friendship.
