Our Head of coffee
“From the first sip this coffee is intensely creamy in it's mouthfeel and has rich biscuity sweetness. It has a milk chocolate flavour and very mild apple like acidity. It reminds me of dunking chocolate chip cookies into warm milk.
(Psst. You can get clued up on the different coffee-tasting terms Will uses on our blog.)
About the area
About the farm Irmãs Pereira, originally named Serrado, was founded in 1971 when Antonio Andrade Pereira Filho and his wife Maria da Conceição Costa Pereira when the couple decided to invest in 90 acres in the city of Carmo de Minas, Minas Gerais. While building their farm from scratch, Antonio and Maria were also raising their two daughters, Maria Valeria and Maria Rogéria who now run the farm with their husbands and their children.
When they inherited the farm, the sisters decided to keep the farm united in a joint administration. With this decision it was only fitting that they rename the farm to Irmãs Pereira, bringing a new spirit to the union.
Under new management, Irmãs Pereira now employs a range of drying and processing methods in order to reach the high quality of coffee it produces today.
A Q&A with farmer, Maria Rogéria:
What future challenges do you anticipate? “Our greatest pride is to remain united and our biggest challenge is to continue seeking innovation.”
